How to blow out a cartridge

I have a Maynard in 40-70 Maynard and need to blow out some 30-40 krag to make the proper case. What’s the best and safest way to do it?
Thanks

Put 6 to 8 grains of a medium fast powder in the case, fill the rest of the case with cream of wheat or similar coarse ground cereal dumped in over the powder (no wad) and put a dab of grease, wax or  ball of paper in the mouth to hold the mess in.  Go outside and fire.  It will fireform the case perfectly.  Adjust down if it tears off the neck, up if it doesn't fill out correctly.  Helps if you anneal the neck first.

Smells bad enough you don't want to do it inside, but you can by firing into a garbage can.  Don't use flour, the fine material will tear off the case necks.

Krag brass is too short for the 40/70 Maynard. You need a case 2.4" long or a little longer to trim to length. 405 Winchester is a good candidate. The stretched Krag brass from Baco would work. 9.3 x 74 will work but the rims are a little thin.

Not to hijack the thread, I have a similar question. I am shooting a 9.3x57r (360 BPE) I am currently making brass from 9.3x72r but neck turning is required. I was thinking of trying 2.125 38-55, it would be .125 short and the head would be .010 small, do you think it would work?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Wouldn't .30-40 Krag or maybe .303 British be a better donor brass?
