American Rifleman digital issue

I tried to read my now digital AMERICAN RIFLEMAN quarterly. I used to love getting my AMERICAN RIFLEMAN. The articles were in-depth and well written. I noticed the quality of the articles going down hill the last couple of years, to the point that I would just thumb through it, and read one or two of them per issue. The digital edition seems to have hit a new low. The few articles I thought I might be interested in were strictly fluff, the kind of stuff you'd expect from SHOOTING TIMES or GUNS AND AMMO. The writing was mediocre at best, and the articles contained no useful information. What a loss.

Agreed on the digital. I got my Lifetime membership in 1968 for $100 and I'm sure there must have been something good enough in the 560 some odd paper issues I received to make it worthwhile.

If you like reading their older articles this page has several. I've had a great time slowly going through them all:

Just for fun, I just pulled up the January issue of 1927 and leafed through a few pages until I got to page 17 where the article "The vibrations of rifle barrels" started. There are many pages in the article with some very interesting results from test instrument recordings or a wide variety of different rifle barrels. I just quickly skimmed a few pages. What it proved seems to be what we call barrel sweet spots today. I'm going to have to go back to it and read it completely. Thanks for posting the links. Nothing like that in the latest magazines.

Been a Life member since around 1980 and just got my paper copy of the May American Rifleman. Haven't seen a digital copy at all, and I thought the deal was paper copies would be quarterly and others in between would be monthly digital?
The May copy is pure crap. Dedicated to all sorts of brand new handguns and black rifles coming out this year. All the good writers got notices last fall to not send any more articles in to the NRA, so that's why the quality has gone even further downhill. It hasn't been that great for the last decade, and now it's much worse.

Received my printer copy the other day.  Had a chance to page through it. Had some good articles.  Seems to have more content than previously.  I think the restructuring will take time.
Yes, a lot on "black" rifles and pistols with picatinny rails, but that's the market today.  Look around and see what the "legend" manufactures are making.
I belong to the ASSRA for the single shot stuff.
Been a life member for more than I recall and a Charter Member of the Golden Eagles since it began in 1993.
Say what you like, but we would all be empty handed without them fighting for our 2nd AM Rights.
