For Sale: Maynard 1882 No.16 Offhand Target Rifle .38-50

- 30-inch part octagonal barrel with a very good to excellent bore
- .38-50 caliber
- windgauge front sight and rack-and-pinion rear sight

I bought this rifle directly from Charlie Hart (Alvin, Texas) 12-15 years ago. I flew from Anchorage, Alaska, to Houston and drove somewhere near Alvin, Texas.

He told me he bought it from Ron Peterson. When Charlie saw it, there was some roughness on the left flats near the breech that he pointed out to Ron. He said Ron took it in back and brought it out but polished away some of the finish in that area you see now. I find this hard to believe, but ...

I have never shot it ... embarrassing, I know. I remember finding .38-55 basic brass and cutting them down to the cartridge length. I never went far enough to get dies or a bullet mould.

Price: $3,600 includes shipping via US Priority Mail

First "I'll take it" posted here gets it.

Joe,  Beautiful rifle, can't afford it but thank you for the wonderful stock pictures. They will be very helpful for the stock on  my Maynard.

Very nice, sir! If I didn’t already have a .38-50 No. 16, I would be sorely tempted. Honestly, I’m still tempted!

Your rifle has some features I have only seen on two other No. 16 Maynards. I'm sure more were so built, but in studying Maynard photos for 30 years or so, I've only seen three. Very, very nice indeed!
