match ideas

Our club is getting ready for our annual "Spring Fling" Where we have a barbeque and various shooting events open to the public. This year we would like to have some sort of a match that would appeal to as wide a range of shooters as possible. It will be a 50yd match with 22s but we want to do something that is fun for everyone and will give everyone a chance for success. Any suggestions for fun or luck matches would appreciated. Thanks.

One fun match that Bob Zimmerman (RIP) put a strip of masking tape horizontally across the center of the targets. 5 shots under and 5 shots over. High score wins. The kicker is any shots touching the tape score as a zero. How close to the tape do you dare shoot?

We did it with BP iron sights at 200 yds but it would be fun at any distance.

Based on personal experience with "fun" matches I conducted in NC many moons ago....
Take a wooden engineer stake drill a hole on top and insert a Lolli Pop or sucker. We also inserted golf tees with an egg rested on top. These were also very popular.

We have an annual Candy match where Lifesavers are hot glued to a target.  We shoot them at 25, 50 and 100 yards.  Hitting them and breaking them are scored according to the hole in the target, threading a bullet through without breaking the lifesaver scores 25 pts at 25 yds, 50 pts at 50 yds, and 100 pts at 100 yards.  Last year we had about 20 shooters show up, a few impressive scores tallied...

Like the 'Life saver' idea..!

A friend of mine and I came up with this, makes for a lot of fun.

We take a 3-4 long piece of stiff card board about 12" wide
Cover it with white paper,  (comes in LONG rolls from my old job).

Put it up vertically down range.

Draw one vertical line down the center and horizontal lines every three inches apart from top to bottom.

On each horizontal line we tape two paint balls, one on the left side
of the vertical line and one on the right.

Depending on the game and the stakes we take turns shooting.

Rule is you have to start at the bottom paint ball on your side.
Whoever gets the most hits with a defined number of rounds wins.

Fun part is you don't have to get out the scope to see the splatter, the satisfaction of a hit is immediate and obvious even at a pretty good distance. Although watching your buds hits thru a scope will give a pretty good idea of wind drift.
