RIP Bud Hyett

Print Post
I just learned that long time single shot shooter and forum member Bud Hyett passed in January. I had heard the name several times before I met him when I started shooting the CBA matches in Puyallup.  One time at Spokane Steve Barber introduced me to Mel Harris as Bud Hyett so every year after that I would shake Steve’s hand and say “Hi, Steve.  Bud Hyett”.
RIP Bud

Sorry to hear of Bud Hyett's passing. I enjoyed talking with him at the CBA matches. He really enjoyed shooting.

Cheers

Mike Boynton also passed. That was a real shocker. He was only 2 years older than me and seemed in good shape.  I missed shooting at Puyallup last year after July due to my back problems. I plan on resuming the matches this year. Lugging all the gear and guns and sitting that long gives me a sore back for the rest of the day but it doesn’t seem to affect me long term.  See you next weekend at the Tacoma match. I am trying to get John to come. Don’t think he wants to. Maybe if you bug him too. He would probably whip us both in the 50 shot match.

Yes... RIP Bud Hyett!
I learned from his wife Alice that he passed in his sleep on 1/21.
Bud is the one who took the time to teach me the many facets of the shooting disclipine... and that j-word bullets were only a passing fad! We met when we worked at General Dynamics back in '87 where they had a company sponsored gun club - imagine that! I could always call him for a pet load for most any cartridge or which powders worked best.
