Giving up.

My back had become so problematic that I can’t shoot these heavy rifles any longer. I have decided to sell all of them and start collecting target pistols that I can shoot easier. I will be disposing of 22 Winchester 1885s, 4 Ballards and 2 BSAs.  It will take a few days to get things organized and contact Amoskeag to arrange pickup. I did promise to sell my 32-40 DST high wall from the Post Falls show last June to Wes Turner. 

It has been a blast conversing with you all on this forum

Great minds think alike, Jack.  A couple weeks ago, I came to the same conclusion.  So, bought a pistol, but I'm more cautious than you.  I'm going to keep my high wall until I'm sure I like pistol shooting.  Unlike you, I don't have a bunch of high walls and others, just the one.

Well, my back is f***ed up and I will probably need surgery this fall AND I will have my kids offer you that DST 32-40 when they pry it from my cold dead hands.  Other than that   - APRIL FOOLS DAY!

Now I am tired and sore so I am going to bed.

I was thinking of breech seating a TC in 25 Hornet. Bench rest of course

ditch the TC, Jack. Too much work opening and closing it, then needing to reseat it on the rest. Get an old Woodsman to continue your devotion to the Winchester factory and you can load clips seated in your easy chair at home. No back strain and   transporting those lovely pieces is easy on the back as well, just tuck it into the back of your Levis and stuggle off your shooting stool when you finish. Toss the now-empty clips into an old Crown Royal sack (surely you have several) and leave the brass for the sweeper.

Thinking BP single shot pistol.  38-55 maybe.  I guess I could take a hacksaw to one of my high walls.  I Vietnam I would get a carton of menthol cigarets ($1.70) from the PX, trade it to the Vietnamese soldiers I worked with and cut the barrel off just in front of the gas cylinder and cut the stock off at the wrist forming a pistol grip.  Carried it in my Jeep.  Had one confiscated by the MPs at the gate.  Had to fork over another $1.70 and bum some other guy's ration card.

I traded all my old single shot rifles yesterday for a really neat AR15 with more attachments on the side than I even know how to use!

don't worry about not knowing what the attachments are for- nobody else does either. even the guys that use them anyhow.

Jack, if you want to try out the sawed-down .38-55 idea without a big investment (other than the $1.70), just borrow one of Joe's and experiment. Thank me for that jewel of an idea because I was just having a discussion with Vall regarding the use of borrowed/adopted parts for cars. 
If it goes poorly somewhere-

Jack, with the bum back. You need a helper. A nice take charge kind of gal. 

I don't need your Special Sporting Winchester since I recently scored a round top thick side Winchester. I have sights and new MVA DSTs for it. Will most likely become a 35-40 false muzzle Schuetzen rifle.

Maybe a nice young gal like this.
