There are numerous cartridges based on the old Mauser case. Dixon lists 24 variations of 47 mm case alone. He says that the 10.5mm was the most popular, with some versions produced after WW-1 into the 1930's.
A chamber cast to determine the case length and bore diameter is the easiest way to determine the correct chambering.
I believe that these cartridges were popular target chambering and I have a pre WW-1 Meffert Schuetzen rifle chambered for the 10 mm version.

Just got a Buffalo Arms ad and see that they have 10.8x47R Martini Target, 11.43x49R Romanian and 11.4 x50R Comblain brass in stock. The last two look kind of "hippy" but the first might be usuable.

108 x 49 ... my first thought was BB Cap for a Howitzer?
