45-70 Sharps Carbine

Got an original Carbine that Hoyt put a 45-70 liner in for me. On his invoice he has that its 1-20" twist and .457,  What grain 45 do you think would work well in a 1-20 short barreled carbine? I'm just looking for a starting point.

I would start with a 405-420 gr bullet and see how it goes should not be hard to find a used mold and Lee has some at reasonable prices
19-22 gr of Accurate 5744 would be my starting point for loads
Let me know how it turns out

405 will be the most comfortable to shoot in that, but it will handle up to 500 grain bullets.
The 300 and 350 grain bullets should work well also.
