I got no dog in this fight, but thought I’d share this with everyone who wants a Hubalek special rifle. Auction looks like it’s active and ending soon, don’t miss it!

Hopefully someone here will adopt it

A lot of guys haven't. Kinda sad considering he was likely the finest offhand scheutzen shooter of his time, and was such a talented gunsmith, barrel maker, and just all around creative guy. From making the finest .22RF barrels, to making target scopes, to his striker conversion Ballard actions. From a guy who tuned pianos for a living to begin with.

This rifle reminds me of the old saying “there is no such thing as an ugly girl at the bar after 3AM. “

Weirdest I've ever seen, and without a pronged buttplate I'm not sure how one could shoot this rifle well offhand?

It looks like a space gun to me with that palm rest.
No disrespect to Mr Hubalek.

I doubt Hubalek had anything to do with the stocks or palm rest.

I’m interested if the barrel might still be in a “competitive” condition? That barrel would have been amazing when Mr Hubalek made it, it had his “special” stamp indicating he selected it for quality.

The custom Hubalek striker modified breech assembly is fantastic in design concept. I’m imagining that it improves the lock time versus the standard hammer? One less thing to do while shooting? It’s certainly outside the box thinking, or intuitive development driven by competition?

What receiver model is this built on? Looks forged and has straight walls without a relief cut, pistol grip and dst. No6 1/2? I’m curious to hear the Ballard experts opine.

It appears Mr Hubalek was extremely talented in many facets. I’m glad to have learned about him here from MarlinGuy.

If rules didn’t require a hammer in 22BPCR I’d be very interested in putting a new stock on this too.

Good luck!
