I recently learned of the passing of Doc Smalley, a regular at the big Schützen matches in the west.  He was a fierce competitor and a damn fine man.  He was born in 1934 and passed on last year in August.  We are diminished.

Regards,
Joe

I met Doc at an ISSA Regional in Modesto Ca many years ago. I always looked forward to visiting with him. It's sad to see another name added to the list.

RIP Doc.

Sad news for sure.

I shot alongside Doc many times here at our local range. He always complemented or advised on my results- as he pecked out substantially better than mine with such things as his .25 Hornet or something else. Nice man and I was sorry when he went.
We joked about the whether we really needed hearing suppression since we were both nearly deaf already. That made him more patient with me, since he knew how us deaf ol' farts could be in any conversation.

Sad to hear of his passing. We shot together at Spokane several times. A great guy and competitor.
RIP
