Just received the latest journal.
On the cover, a great picture of A. O. Niedner holding a Maynard. Having just picked up a Niedner barreled Maynard in .22lr, my first thought was, of course, I wonder if that's my rifle. It isn't I'm pretty sure. I've been interested in Niedner since I found out he was from Dowagiac. I grew up in Niles, MI which is just a few miles from Dowagiac. One of my grandmother's and a couple of great aunts lived in Dowagiac and we're there while Niedner ran his shop and was mayor. My dad used to spend summers on a family farm there. Of course, I was seven when Niedner passed so I never knew him or about him until much later. I'm fascinated by the history of our sport and of the men who made great contributions and left us a rich legacy.

Nice Maynard!
Like you the history of our hobby is something that's always of utmost interest to me also. I love discovering as much as possible about every old Master maker who built or worked on these old single shot rifles.
