You could purchase the 044 1/2 in 22LR that I'm selling and any good gunsmith could change the block from rimfire to centerfire. 044's are pretty scarce.

I wonder if there is enough metal on the sides of a 44 block that it could be thinned the same amount on each side and retain enough strength for a 22 Hornet or 25-20, etc.? Just thinking out loud. I'll ask my ME friend what he thinks.

If you look at the pic in my listing that I shamelessly 'borrowed' from another post with the 44 1/2, 044 1/2 & 44 next to one another it is difficult to tell. It '"appears" the 044 1/2 block could be simply a thinned 44 1/2 block. Would need to see the naked blocks side-by-side to know and I don't have a 44 1/2 block handy.

If you have a rimfire block it can be changed to centerfire. 044 1/2 blocks are scarce and you can't make one from a 44 1/2 block.

Here's a couple of pictures of a 44 1/2 and an 044 1/2 breech block side to side.  It's not possible to thin down a 44 1/2 breech block to fit a 044 1/2.
