Last ones I got came from kensmachine (user name) here on the forums ,in the white , might give him a shout , very good quality. I think he is still under the same user name , think I recall him having some issue with the forum and may been under a different user name. Maybe same as Marlin guy is referring to . Believe his name is Ken Moss. Hope this helps , if I am wrong someone please correct me. JR

Both names are Ken Moss, but his old user name doesn't work anymore as he can't access it.

Marble's makes them, available through Midway for 5.99 a pair. Not finished quite as nicely as MVA, but match the finish of lyman and Marble's. I have not checked, but probably 8-40 like MVA. Not perfect fit, but work OK, slightly loose.

8-40 is not correct for a Ballard, or the 1881, and 1888 Marlin repeaters! They are all 9-40. An 8-40 is a bit sloppy in the 9-40 holes of the early Marlins. 8-40 is correct for all Marlins from around 1890 forward.
I would hope MVA knows the difference and sends the correct screws!

Like I said earlier, I got my #9-40 screws last month from MVA. Just tell them what you want.

I didn't say 8-40 screws were correct, simply that they will work , but not as good as original thread screws. If in fact MVA uses the correct thread, they are finished nicer also. Kens machine I am sure would use the correct thread, which by the way, is not a standard thread. From a strictly functional viewpoint, 8-40s have held up to 38-55 recoil for a very long time, as originals were extremely difficult to find back in the dark ages when I acquired the rifle. A glob of blue thread locker these days would help too if a concern.
