Stevens 044 1/2 in 22LR - refurbished

Selling my refurbished original Stevens 044 1/2, which is a lighter weight 44 1/2 made around 1904-1916.
I suffer from the family curse of essential tremor and have given up shooting anything off-hand, so BPCR of any flavor is out.
Recent case color on the action.
Bartlein 5R rifled barrel, d&t'd on 7.3" center for an MVA or similar scope (Unertl, Lyman, etc.).
New wood, double-set triggers, etc.
My favorite thing about this 044 1/2 rifle is the ejector (quite rare in a Stevens action). It actually works quite well and tosses the case clear of the action. Very handy.
The rifle weighs 7# 14oz without the scope and with an MVA 10X scope it weighs 8# 15oz.
Will include a few spares (stirrup, hammer, etc.). The 044 1/2 takes the same internal parts as the 44 1/2.
My 044 1/2 is as accurate as any rifle I've owned and I won matches at Ridway & Kentucky with it before my shaking took over.
Like most good rifles, it shoots its best with Tenex or Midas+, etc.
I'll take $2500 for the rifle.
Shipping would be at your expense to your FFL. I would ship the barrel & wood directly to you. Only the action would go to your FFL.
Please feel free to ask questions.

Here's a pic of the 44 1/2 (left), 044 1/2 (center) & 44 (right).

The 44 1/2 & 044 1/2 are identical other than the thinner/lighter receiver built to handle rimfire cartridges or light-weight centerfire cartridges. The 44 is a considerably 'weaker' action where the block rotates on a large screw rather than being a falling block like the 44 1/2 & 044 1/2.

The English model 044 1/2's were made in both rimfire and centerfire.
I own two centerfire 044 1/2's, one in .28-30 and one .25-20 ss.

Had essential tremor for years, it sucks. I don't plan on being able to shoot well but still enjoy shooting.

I've seen one in 32/20 and have one in 25/21. 044 1/2's are not common. I remember a post about them awhile back. A member here said he'd been looking for one for years.

Yes. I only shoot our local benchrest matches these days. Everything else is just a lesson in frustration.

I hate to see that. I’m the “kid” at 57 and over the last several years have seen plenty of fellow shooters I consider friends quit coming to matches because their performance isn’t what it once was. We tell them to the person that we don’t care what they shoot, we just want them to come out every once in a while because we enjoy their company. Your shooting buddies may feel the same and it’s selfish to them and yourself to deny them.

(Side note, really wish someone would by that rifle, I need another single shot rifle like I need a 2nd wife….)
