Anyone have experience with Stevens single shot pistols? Especially model 35s? What are they really worth - the auction sites are all over the place. Local gun shop has one.

I have several Stevens tip up pistols. The model 35 is one of the more common Stevens pistols, condition is everything as with most guns so it is hard to tell you what the pistol is worth that you're looking at without seeing it myself.

I had one sold it and wish I still had it.  Personally I would pay for condition and would not buy poor condition finish or mechanicals

I balked at paying over $400 for the ones i saw on auction but finally scored one for under $250.  Not a great bore and doesn't like low velocity target ammo, but is fairly accurate with standard ammo.  Fun to shoot!

Guessing 250 to 400 is about the range. Few months ago I missed a nice one waiting too long. It went for 300

I bought two a few years ago. One with an aged patina finish for $150, a second one that was refinished for $250. Both shot well enough with sub sonic shorts and long ammo.
Hawes makes a modern copy called the Favorite. I see them sell at auction for under $200.

The Hawes version has a frame made from Zamak, which is a zinc alloy. I bought a used one many years ago out of the Shotgun News, and it rattled like a maraca. Of course who knows what sort of abuse it had been subjected to, but that experience put me off any of the alloy firearms coming out of Germany.

The much lauded Henry rimfire rifles were actually first produced in Germany by Erma, and the design was purchased by Louis Imperato after they went broke. I’ve seen some pretty worn out Henry’s come through the shop over the years. No Zamak for me!
