And what will your grandson do with the rifle once he grows out of it?  Buy a replacement stock from Treebone or some such source.  You (or he) can search for and if lucky buy an "original" when he's done growing.

Bill, I appreciate your counsel on this. The rifle currently sports very good wood, single set, takedown, and is sufficiently large enough for even a full grown adult. Just need a chunk of something so I can shorten the length of pull a bit for him. All I have on hand are not pistol grip. Hopefully he can shoot BPCRA silhouettes with me for a long time.

Have a high wall stock that would be a good candidate.  Has an adjustable comb on the cheekpiece, moves by a bolt in the stock I was told, haven't been curious enough to move it.  Previous owner had made this to adjust fit to his grandkids.

$125 for it pus shipping.
