Thoughts on a Re-Lining Job

So I have an early 44 chambered 38-55 originally. You guys have warned me that this cartridge is a bit much for this action even though Stevens chambered them. That a little too much pressure and the gun will shoot itself loose at the pins. I've been loading soft and no problems but here are my thoughts

I've got a bunch of 25-20 brass and I like quarter bores so my thoughts are to reach out to Taylor and see about relining the barrel, the extractor, etc.. So is this a prudent thing to do to this nice original old Stevens or go hunting for another rifle.
I really don't have very deep pockets at this time so thinking-hoping reline is a much more affordable route. Just spitballing right now.

I would love to trade one of my 25-20 Stevens for that 38-55. I shoot my 32-40 Stevens 44 with light loads though rarely. Wish you were closer.

With all the bad bore 44s around for sale I wouldn't  modify a good original but that's just me. Any ole rotten bore 44 is only a Lee Shaver block, or a modified RF block and a liner away from being a 25-20SS ☺️
