So some non-contributors are unhappy with the map as presented.  Is that the issue? Or is it that some contributors were missed and they are distraught that someone else’s effort was imperfectly produced? Guess I just don’t understand.

I’m a member, and was missed. Not a big deal really, but it seemed worth mentioning.

I suppose if we rate by participation, then honestly I haven’t ever been in any sort of match. If that’s the case, it’s no surprise  Grin

I unintentionally stirred up quite a hornet's nest. If you are a member and you don’t have a dot, blame me and/or AI. It's an accident and no one was intentionally excluded. I am still learning how to correctly prompt AI. I limited it to the US members just because the map fit better ... nothing else.

As for the Alberta Schuetzen Guild, we still list you in the Clubs and Dates section of the journal. I don't know who made the decision to exclude your scores, but this was before I was editor. That was a dumb decision! I would be happy to include the club's scores.

It is very difficult to maintain a balance in the journal to keep our shooters and collectors interested. We all fall within this range, with some tilting more towards shooting and others towards collecting.

We lost members when the journal was predominantly a list of scores with very few articles. I remember one journal had no articles. Aside from posting scores, I have very few contributors who will write about loading, shooting, etc. I also understand past members submitted articles that never got published. This was all before I took this on 3-1/2 years ago.

If you were an ASSRA member and didn't renew because you lost interest in the journal, it has improved a lot! ... and I am always looking to make small incremental improvements with each issue. This is not the journal you remember.

The Single Shot Rifle Journal is a club journal. It is meant to reflect all of us, and I will work with any article drafts that a member submits.

I’ve been a member of both the association and the forum for a few years now, and have found both to be invaluable resources. I’m surprised that ASSRA doesn’t have more members…
It would be nice to know who else in my area is interested in the same stuff, I wonder if a directory would be possible.
The people who I’ve met through matches and the forum have been really helpful and a pleasure to know.

The Forum member map was a function of a previous software version.  Years ago, when  Josh upgraded to a more secure "backbone" software, the new version didn't offer the map feature.

Thanks for the info. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

It’s an interesting map and generated needed discussion. It’s hard to comprehend when members numbers are 5 digits, but actual members ships are only 3. A lot smaller circle of people than I thought and when you factor in only a percentage shoot, it a small club.

As far as the accuracy of ai generated dot placement, I wouldn’t give it any thought. I bet half the members in Rhode Island were plotted in Delaware if they were lucky, but mor likely either offshore or Wisconsin.
