Staying busy over the winter

This Stevens 44 25-20SS  project has kept me busy out of the weather all winter. Started out with an extremely nice barrel purchased at Phil Way's (former member USCRA112) estate auction and has been built up from that small start. Test fired this morning and now to be taken back apart to blue it other than the barrel which will be left is.

Nice work so far. I'd maybe consider color case on the polished parts.
I've got a Stevens 44 receiver, and a dozen different barrels. Thought I'd build something, but think I'll just sell it all. My Ballards might get jealous.

Thank you, I hadn't considered case hardening but I am buried so deep in this rifle a few more dollars isn't much of a deal,LOL  I have messed with Stevens 44 and 44 1/2 rifles for over 40 years and only live an hour from where Phil lived but never knew him,, from what I read on these forums that is my loss for sure.

With the parts already polished out CCH would be less than $300 for it, and quick turn around since it's ready to CCH. That's from Al Springer at Snowy Mountain Gun Restoration.

I would be interested in a barrel. Going to post a WTB in the forum.
