Marlinguy has a secret. He is an antique firearms magnet. Quite a few of his treasures find him not the other way around. I have walked by good deals at the Oregon arms show only to see them stuck to his hands a few minutes later. Besides, he is genuinely a very nice guy and people feel better knowing that their prized possessions will have a good home and get some tlc to bring back their glory.
(Am I buttering you up enough yet Vall? Remember to find me that DST high wall I am looking for!)

Flattery works Jack!! I'm keeping an eye out for a DST High Wall for you! Keep the gun fund full!
And you know I wouldn't likely have this Hubalek had it not been for you graciously stepping aside! Thanks buddy!

I would say anytime, but maybe not next time Smiley

I am very happy the way this worked out.  Nobody better than you to have scored such a neat rifle.  And it shoots!

After the usual USPS antics of taking all sorts of crazy routes, the Hubalek scope finally arrived today! Of course my postman had to scare me by delivering it to my next door neighbor, but not leaving me a note telling me where he left it! I came home hoping to find it, and checked the tracking to see it say, "delivered to neighbor as directed". Well I never directed that so went knocking on our neighbor's door and he had it!
It appears to be in fantastic shape with a fine crosshair and small dot reticle. Externally and internally very nice. It does appear to have a replaced reticle cell as it's Japanned finish, not blued steel as the rest is. Compared the view to other target scopes I have and it's something around 16x-20x as close as I can tell? I have a spare Fecker reticle and I think the thread size is identical, so I'll give it a try to compare.

Neat to have a Hubalek scope on a Hubalek striker conversion Ballard.

Glad it finally arrived! Should look great on your Ballard.

It sure does!
But although the threads are the same as Fecker, the reticle cell with crosshairs is part of the reticle cell on this Hubalek, so the Fecker cell wont work. Leaving it alone and not messing with it.

Funny, after reading about your Hubalek adventures, I thought I’d post this here for the collectors opinions? How many Hubaleks exist out there?

I don’t have a desire for it, so feel free to bid it up or buy it.

How many exist depends on how one classifies a rifle as a Hubalek. As with many old custom gunsmiths Hubaleks come in various states of Hubalek work.
One could simply have a Hubalek barrel on it, and people will refer to it as a Hubalek rifle. Or it could have one of his Hubalek, or Hubalek Special barrels, and the Ballard striker conversion, and be a true Hubalek rifle. And could even have his modified double set triggers also, and have everything Hubalek did. And the coupe de gras would be if it had one of his target scopes to top the rest of it off!
I think Hubalek did almost no stock work, other than maybe his own rifles? So there isn't a certain Hubalek style stock or buttplate.
