I need a Carbine buttplate for a sharps rifle, thought I’d see if anyone had a spare laying around before I called C Sharps and ordered one, some originals for sale on x at but they are rather proud of them. Thanks

I have one I think is off a '63 conversion.  Is that the model you're looking for?

If so I'll dig it out this afternoon and post a pic here.

(and if not, I should probably dig it out and post it anyway.  It's been sitting around for a long time and I'm not building any more guns.)

FYI, buttplates differ between Model 1859 and Model 1863 Sharps Carbines. The 1859 has a patchbox, so the buttplate has a cutout for the patchbox lid. The 1863 does not.

Regarding buttplates for Sharps cartridge conversion carbines, the arsenal, when refitting and converting percussion arms to metallic cartridge, used whichever buttplate was on hand, so many of the conversion carbines have an 1859 buttplate with cutout even though they have no patchbox!

Confused yet? Wink Wink

Yes looking for one without the patchbox cut in it.

I'm not confused  Grin I want one with no cut out though, unless it was really cheap, plenty of the ones with the cut out for sale for some reason.

Here's the buttplate pics.  I bought this back in the 70s when I was building the rifle I put in the photos forum a while back.  Later in the project I got a NOS patchbox and the appropriate buttplate and put them on the gun.

In the interim it's been in a drawer, with a pair of original screws taped to the inside.

$75 including Priority Mail shipping in small flat rate box.

Chris W. gets priority.
