We need this site to be more accommodating!
Other firearms sites have notifications and let us know when responses pretain to us. This is a good place for us single shot enthusiasts but help us communitcate within this great community!

I could definitely agree with that. I’m young and it’s confusing to me sometimes. An email when we get a private message would be the ticket.

Click on the bar just above your post that says “add topic notification”.  It will then let you know when you open the forum if there has been activity on that post.

I get emails for every PM I get.  I’m not sure why, so you should contact the admin folks and ask how to set it up.

Also, when you first open the Board Index page, the radio buttons that are highlighted contain post you have not read.

Not to mention that when you first click on the site on the line right under the greeting "Good Morning" or what ever, it tells you how many new messages you have.

I get emails all the time telling me I have messages and a link to click on to view them.
And since new posts are highlighted each time someone else posts to a thread, I don't need anything more. If it's not broken, then don't fix it. I like the way it works personally.

I second Marlinguy’s option. I like this forum’s look and feel better than most others I visit.

Maybe Alan will chime in also.  We talked a little about this at the last shoot attended.  This forum is kept simple, there's no pop-ups, there's no scrolling ads across the header, the moderators have a few things in place to prevent scammers and so far for me, they keep it clean and simple.

Ten posts enable you to post things for sale, there's no charge for that, if the items are related to this discipline, there's usually an interest and the items move quickly, a lot less hassle than ebay, facebook or Craigslist.

The email notifications of new PM's wasn't working but that just came back around and I'm getting notices just fine now.  As mentioned, opening the site page does tell you what posts are new and it also gives you an idea of who's on line.

If you are not a member of the ASSRA join up, we need members and the Journal is a first class publication.  If joining isn't your thing, consider making a donation to this forum, the very top post in the Annoucement Section, Paypal or a check, it all helps.

I personally find those gun forums that keep sending me notices of any new replies at any thread I look at. It look at lots of things that turn out to be something I wont return to, so getting notices means I need to open the notice, and delete it. I'd rather not get notices myself. Just less effort for me to delete.

IMHO there isn't enough activity on here to need additional alerts.
The upgrades would take $$$. Where would that come from? There is the donate button and becoming an ASSRA member, I guess?
Probably would need to find a new hosting service for forum.
A lot goes into it....who gonna doit?

I may be wrong but I believe the original person (Kansas Highwall) that started this thread & the comments from the 1st one to respond (Coleat4440) was done when the forum very recently had a problem not automatically sending out emails to PM’s and notification of replies to threads.  Or, as Dellet suggested, selecting notifications to include email alerts in setup was not done.

After BobW & I complained to the powers-to-be, the forum problem was quickly corrected.  Subsequently I received a bunch of email from the forum from threads & PM’s.

I'd like to hear from Kansas Highwall & Coleat4440 if they still have a concern after reading this thread.
