Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Sure wasn't much mention of the Ballard rifle's part in these skirmishes.

Didn't watch all the segments, did ya. Quite a lot of mention as the primary arm of the "Red Sashs". As well as function and firing demonstrations.  Probably the decisive arm on the Fenians left flank.

Agree last 15 minutes or so extensive detail, mostly Ballards, other period single shot cartridge rifles too.

Good video worth watching.

Yes I did, but it was a few minutes in the last 10 minutes of the video, and all I noted was the leader of the Red Sash's wanting everyone to have the same Ballard, but not being successful in the demand. And a short bit about how they were loaded. I didn't see anything about how the Ballard made a significant change in these skirmishes?
Nice to see the early Ballards mentioned though.

Have you guys watched all four parts yet? I'm halfway through the third part now. I never realized how much of this took place near where I grew up in Vermont. I kinda remember a highway historical marker about Fenian raids but don't remember its context. The other big thing that happened in that section of Vermont is the furthest most confederate action of the civil war.
