I've had several that have done the loop recently but eventually they do show up. One pack of screws shipped from Illinois to Minnesota got within 20 miles of me ended up in South Carolina and back to me. The one that pizzed me off the most was I got my Visa bill back as undeliverable to Dallas Texas. By the time it reached me it already had the late fee payment on my next bill but thank the company understood and dropped that. They said I wasn't the only one that had a problem with their Visa bills not being able to be delivered to Dallas.

USPS didn't deliver $3000 worth of checks to my insurance company a year ago. The only thing that saved me was noticing they hadn't cleared the bank. A quick call to my agent and payment through her averted the disaster of cancellation. The agent told me a nastygram from the company was enroute. It showed up a day before I would have been cancelled.
Due to that fiasco, I now pay bills electronically and the PO system gets none of that business.

Once again USPS never fails to be consistently bad. Although the package was just 3 miles away yesterday at 9:15 a.m., it never made it today. No explanation, and appears no change in it's location.

Got a call from USPS Consumer Center a few minutes ago. She began by telling me my package never was in Cheyenne, Wy. and that was likely a "computer error". Then told me it got delayed in Denver by bad weather. When I asked why it even went to Denver she stalled awhile, and then said she didn't know. When I asked why it went from Billings to Denver twice, she didn't know it did until she checked tracking again. I told her if USPS hadn't sent it to Denver TWICE, then even the first time was before the bad weather!
She basically ended by telling me it got to Portland too late in the day to get delivered today. I asked her what she thought was too late since it hit town at 9:15 a.m.? She then stuttered and couldn't tell me why. I told her I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for tomorrow either!

The lack of accountability is unconscionable but the fact that you pay for insurance and they won't pay the claim when it's lost or damaged is criminal.  I don't see what there is to gain for the added insurance but I think I will send mine registered, as has been suggested here, next time.

I hope it's resolved tomorrow and we get to see pictures

I actually didn't even bother buying insurance for the trip to Al's! I just did a medium priority flat rate box, and figured I'd roll the dice. I think sometimes high insurance makes thieves more likely to steal something. And as you mentioned insurance is a scam at USPS. It literally takes an act of Congress to get them to pay up!

I had bought a scope that was in Boise Idaho

It left Boise the 14th
Went to AZ
Then back to Boise
To Seattle, then back to AZ
Back to Boise
To Seattle again and to me on the 22nd

I no longer call it the USPS, seems the new name of TPS ( Trump Postal Service ) fits, and their new moto is. If it can be screwed up, we will

And then there is the letter with a payment enclosed that I mailed on Dec 30th, going to TX that has never made it yet.
At least that seller is OK, as he has 3 other auctions that he is waiting for payment also. As those letters, most likely are with mine in a bag somewhere

The wife mailed 5 packages on Jan 15th, they scanned at our Post Office for 6 days until that bag was finally scanned and moved on

I have USPS Informed Delivery and get updates daily on letters or packages headed my way. This package has never shown up any day on that email throughout it's entire trip. I had to do a tracking check every day to see where it was going. Even junk mail letters show up, so something was wrong within the system right from the get go!

Have also had problems with USPS. As Vall said, even Supervisors can't seem to help. Let alone the regular employees. All of them are about as useless as tits on a boar hog.

Moaning and groaning don't change anything. I know, lets all grab signs and whistles and hold a demonstration.

USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL all use the same types of mail/package handling equipment.  Anything that doesn't follow the conveyor track easily or the OCR camera has trouble reading the label on either gets misdirected or diverted into massive bins for hand sorting. Email and internet have cut into USPS revenue and managers are incentivized to reduce costs by lowering labor costs. It's not hard to connect the dots that explain why mail and package delivery is less reliable than we remember them being.

Greetings,

Similar delivery issues for me, as well.

Some move through quickly and others get stuck in limbo.

I did read that FEDEX cancelled their contract with USPS for handling the bulk of their packages. I wonder if FEDEX took their software with them and USPS is having to relearn the process?

Cheers,

Dave

Disagree. If enough of us file complaints with USPS eventually they might decide it's getting to the point they'll lose package shipping to other sources.

All I got from USPS employees was apologies, or people looking at the same tracking I saw. No explanation for why things go back and forth, yet take multiple trips before they finally head the right direction!
I wonder what a trip from Billings to Denver multiple times costs USPS? Or what it costs them to send packages the wrong direction and do it multiple times instead of sending it directly to the address?
No wonder USPS rates have gone nuts.

Parts finally arrived! The medium flat rate box appears to have done as much traveling as it has, and corners were all rounded over, and sides wrinkled. But the contents were well wrapped and none were harmed at all! Ready to reassemble my Schoyen Ballard soon! I'll clean the shipping oil off and wax the parts once they're assembled as a complete Ballard rifle!

The buttplate is actually for my #3F as I wanted to change the polished steel to color cased on that rifle.
