	"Chamber recommendations for a Gain Twist .315 Groove Barrel" Because this is not quite right for a normal (.321) 32-40 or a 32-20, I'm looking for suggestions for a American Rimmed Cartridge that is going to be a 200 yard light weight target rifle..... I don't have a specific receiver in mind just yet. I may re barrel a Martini Cadet or Uberti HiWall Any recommendations.. TIA Bob

	Cartridges of the world indicates only one American cartridge at .315 and that is the Bullard 32-40 so that's what I recommend. It has been obsolete for many decades. Let the re-inventing begin... Or, lose the .315 barrel and go with something current and standard. Perty sure I have a brand new 8.15X46R reamer to fit .316 bores. To bad it's European. I'll take it over the 32-40 any day.

	I have seen 32-35, both Stevens and Maynard with 315/316 grooves. And a 32-40 Remington. The line between 30 and 32 is pretty blurry.

	If breech seating use a 32-40 chamber. Preferably the straight taper version.

	I own an unusual Ballard that has a .32-40 chamber, but a 1:15" twist .316" groove barrel. I shoot it as a breech seater mostly, but I also size down .32-40 bullets to .317" and shoot it as a fixed cartridge occasionally. A little tricky crimping the bullets and not having bullets fall into the case before they get crimped to hold them.

	I have an early German-made Martini (before 1891 law), .314 groove, .308 bore. Cal is 8.15x46R, but not stop-ring. Does very well with Lyman 311403, a bore-rider with a .315 base band. Light loads seem best. A few years back, I bought 100 cases from Quality Cartridge. They are dandy. If you are thinking about a Martini Cadet action, you will need a much shorter cartridge. You might look at the old .32 Winchester Self Loading case from 1905. It is straight & semi-rimmed but a very strong case. Does Quality Cartridge make these? I have bought .351 WSL from them. I have a Uberti High Wall in .30/40 Krag. It's not really a High Wall because you must cock the thing. I put the buttstock from a Winder Musket on mine. Recoil is much less objectionable. The action is so beefy that it might be too heavy for a "light weight" rifle. Make it a .32/40 or a .30/30 and use odd-sized bullets. Start with 311403, but check the twist.
