Interesting Model 44 on GB

Model 44 with what should be after Savage take over, Trademark Stevens on the side of the action. Chambered in 25-20. No visible serial numbers so impossible to tell if it’s original. A center fire that late would be pretty rare. The 22 Hornet Walnut hill rifles are about it after the 44 1/2 came out.

How do people think 4 pictures and a short sentence will sell a rifle?

I have several model 44 1/2's and a model 044 1/2 with the Trade mark Stevens stamping on the left side of the receiver. I would guess that model 44 is likely originally made pre Savage. I agree with the vague description doesn't help the seller much and especially no mention of the bore condition.

I don't know but I follow Stevens 44s on GB and they certainly seen to fetch good money anyway?

In this case the lack of information possibly benefits the seller. Odd length of barrel would indicate it was set back. Mis match of serial numbers, wrong roll mark on the barrel……

Flip side, if it was made by savage 20 years after center fire production stopped, it would be pretty rare.

Let’s see. A $300 44. I think I know the bore condition.  🥹

With a half-octagon barrel, did the octagon part normally extend beyond the forearm?

Thats too much of a project for me with that droopy lever.
If it was tight with a bad bore you could at least rebore it to a .32-20 or .44-40
