For Sale: Remington No.3 Hepburn Hi-power Rifle

Serial No.: 9778, Double-set triggers; .30-40 Krag caliber; 30" round barrel

This is a Remington No.3 Hepburn Hi-Power Rifle -- This is the rarest of all catalog Hepburn rifles. This model was first listed in the 1903-04 catalog, and all Hepburn rifles were discontinued by 1906. 

The full round barrel measures 30" long and tapers from 1.13" at the breech to 0.75" at the muzzle. The bore is very good. The top is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A.". The bottom of the barrel is stamped "30.40" ahead of the forend tip for the 30-40 Krag cartridge.

The action has double-set triggers that function properly. Double-set triggers were not standard but available on special order. The left side of the action is stamped "HEPBURN'S PAT | OCT 7TH 1879" along the bottom edge. The lower tang is not stamped with a serial number (this is common with the Hi-power rifles) however, the barrel, forearm, and buttstock are all stamped "9778".

The rifle has its original silver blade front sight and leaf rear sight.

The buttstock and forearm are in good to very good condition showing stray bumps, but solid. 

This rifle is a very rare configuration. It is all original finish. The action still shows traces of case colors.
