For Sale: Remington No.3 Hepburn Match Grade B with Heavy Barrel

Serial No.: 5871, Double-set triggers; .32 Rim Fire caliber; 29-1/8" part-octagonal heavy barrel

This is a Remington No.3 Hepburn Match Rifle -- Grade B. The Match Grade B is easily identified as an offhand rifle with a Swiss Buttplate, cheek piece, and checkered forearm.

The #5 weight barrel measure approx. 29-1/8" long and tapers from 1.37" at the breech to 1.02" at the muzzle. The bore is very good. The top flat is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A.". The bottom of the barrel is stamped "32" for .32 Rim Fire ahead of the forend tip.

The action has double-set triggers that function properly. The left side of the action is stamped "HEPBURN'S PAT | OCT 7TH 1879". The lower tang is stamped with its serial number which matches, the barrel, forearm, and buttstock.

The rifle has its original gold-plated Beech combination front sight and Remington vernier tang sight.

The buttstock is in very good condition. The forearm is in good to very good condition showing stray bumps, but also has an extra hole near the face of the action. Likely for a palm rest, but the brass sleeve is not threaded and there is no hole on the bottom of the barrel.

This rifle is a very rare configuration. It is all original finish. The action still shows traces of case colors. It weighs in at 12lbs. 11oz.

Price: $5,750 includes shipping via US Priority Mail

I’ve never seen one in 32 RF! I would’ve guessed 32-30 or 32-40. Beautiful rifle.

Was the 32 RF known for accuracy(potentially) like the 22LR is today with an assortment of factory loadings from plain to target grade?
