Saw this Comblain for sale and it seems unusual in having only one screw to hold the Butt plate on.

Any pics of the rest of the rifle? Triggers?
A well fitted widow's peak, hollow but heavy base plate, good fit to the screw and I know of a couple butt plates put on like that.

Comblains are weird actions. No real lever to grasp to open the action, and parts hanging down into the trigger area. Plus really heavy triggers on most. I had a small frame Comblain in .380 Rook once, but never grew to really like it.

You don't grasp, you just stick your thumb in ahead of the trigger and push. The case will be ejected. Behind the trigger is the trigger plate which contains the main spring, the sear, the hammer mount and hammer, and on the other end is the breechblock. Very compact. That cut-away seems to be missing the hammer.
Here are mine, both the Model 1882 Garde Civique. The one on the top is a 50-70 and the one on the bottom is a 45-70.

By the way, Nero, that looks like it might be a nice piece of wood in that stock.
