Looking at a Sharps Borchardt replica made by Artistic Arms in Hoagland, IN. The company, or its successor, is still in business making custom stocks, but I've been unable to find any history on their rifles.

If I recall correctly, Artistic Arms made only the actions.  I remember a few mentions in the Gun Digests of the 80's.

They were the only game in town for Borchardt actions before Al Storey started making them.

I might be mistaken, but possible a friend ordered a Stevens 44 1/2 from a shop somewhere mid continent long ago. Sent money but never heard from them before he passed.I believe he sent some necessary parts along as well, and discussed the project. A good example of not paying until completed, unless one knows who they are dealing with. Learned that lesson the hard way a long time ago. It sounds as though you ended up with a nice Sharps, congratulations.

I may have a flyer from Artistic Arms, I will pm you if I can find it. Do not hold your breath as a large number of years have passed along with a large number of moves.

I'll bet you were talking talking about a company called Mid America recreations out of Moline Illinois.
