If I remember I take them out, they don't play well ear muffs and they get pulled off my ear if I forget and leave them in when I take the ear muffs off.

I have worn hearing aids for several years. High end ones. (Oticon)  Wearing muffs does not work well. I bought noise cancelling plugs from Sound Gear. I have used them for four years and like them. They are not cheap, but block out the noise while allowing me to hear the range commands. I still compete regularly.
