Howdy

I guess I should introduce myself. I am predominantly a SASS shooter. I answer to Flanigan Flats on the range. My Cowboy club Battle Born Rangers attempts to have a long range match of some sort every month. Kind of a BPCR thing, but with a category for smokeless. I have kind of dipped in and out of that. I was recently gifted a very nice Rolling Block in 40-65 Win by an incredibly generous person. Now that I’ve spent twice the value of that rifle I guess I’m more in than out. But I’ve always had an interest in old single shots. Especially Rollers and Trapdoors. I also just bought an old Stevens 44. I am really looking forward to playing with that. Anyways that is a very long howdy. I look forward to being an active member of the forum!!

Howdy to you too Flanigan. Welcome to the slippery slope of single shots. You do know about the Clubs that have matches for Cowboy Silhouette? 100 meter offhand pistol cartridge and 22RF and 200 meter offhand rifle cartridge matches. No special clothes required, just a single shot with a hammer or a lever action or even a single action revolver for the pistol cartridge or RF matches and smokeless is preferred and no scopes, of course.

I don’t know of any such clubs local to Reno NV except for what my Cowboy club is doing. We shoot .22 matches as well as center fire. We also wear regular clothes for our long range get togethers. I am well down the single shot rabbit hole, lol. Is there a list of clubs somewhere?

An Irishman... There goes the neighborhood. Welcome, but behave yourself!

Welcome from NE Land of Oz. Be prepared to buy a(or another) safe that you can dedicate to single shots.

Thank you all for the welcome. I am no stranger to the single shot world. I have a couple of trap doors, a rolling block, and a Stevens 44. I’m also always looking for others, but I’m poor.

Welcome!
A lot of us are poor - somehow we are richer the more single shots find us - we don’t find them. We’re also richer as we make more friends here.
