Lyman tang sight codes are real easy to check online. I do this rather often.

Slight hijack, I've never found a code for hopkins and allen rifles. Same as Ballard?

H&A 922 takes the same base as the Marlin 1897 (& Mod 39?)
I don't know if they use the same Staff height or not. Sometimes there is a difference

The Ballard and Hopkins & Allen bases are interchangeable. I switch sights from time to time.

Thanks for the replies. Ok, now I know what it fits. And I don’t have any of those rifles. So what to do with it? It’s is perfect condition. If I were to list it on the site what would be a fair price?

Condition aside. If I wanted to price it would look at the price of modern copies that are inferior to original, won't put a name on them. Then MVA's version that's very well made equal or perhaps better than original. Gives you a start range to work with.

Would the owner of a original Marlin or Winchester pay premium for the correct sight ? I have. And have also bought MVA's when originals in good shape could not be found.

If condition is poor it's worth a fraction of good condition. Opinion worth what it cost.
