Would this round be any good at 200 yards?

I have a pistol and a lever action rifle in 32-20, and it's an excellent caliber using fixed ammo. I think if you breech-seated it, you'd be fine at 200 yards, however most 32-20 bullets are 115 grains .313 diameter. I know Tony Heitz shoots well with his 32-20.

It will shoot accurately at 200 yards but if your shooting steel targets you'll need good spotters because a little .32 slug doesn't do much damage to the paint job like larger bullets will.

Heres A 5 shot one holer at 100 yds, 32-20 CPA Shilen 14 twist. Borton Darr 216 gr. 25-1. The 323 ring you can barely see around this five shot group. It came out to .025  A screaming 1350 fps.  Beats my best 32 Miller group ! Am finishing up a switch barrel CPA 1.25 straight barrels in 32-20 and 25-20  bench gun.I'll be able to drop the lever hold the extractor back and switch the barrels.  This group shot with my 32-20 Schuetzen  gun. So yes...the 32-20 Shuttlefield with .319-321 bore is a dandy 200 yard gun.

I shot my 32-20 (30-20 actually) up to now out to 500 yds with success - BUT I use a 1 in 12 twist barrel and 150gr bullets.  And I even do it with BP, not nitro.
.308 Lothar Walther barrel, tand rear sight and peep front.

Shot 500 yds in competition in Bisley, the very 1st time at 500 - ended 3rd with the same score as 2nd place, got beaten on V-count.
Mind you, I also shot 1st with the big .45, my go-to rifle for mid- and long-range BP work.  But yes, the little round will do it - provided you can shoot a heavy bullet.

32-20 will reach out to 200M with no issues.  I shoot steel silhouettes with it all day and it's extremely accurate.  .323 with a 118gr bullet.

My 32-20 shoots like that too but to conserve ammo I only shoot one shot groups..

RE"

Still laughing..Good "ONE"... !

I find it interesting that CPA' 32-20's are shooting .321 (fast twist)(200 grainer's) and the old "Published" data for the 32-20's is .312 projectiles (120 ish gr.) for the originals. I'd guess the 'old'er format was developed to shoot this cartridge in pistols as well as lever guns.

Paul Shuttleworth and his daughter did a lot to keep the Single Shot Sport alive.. THANK YOU Paul and Gail.

Thankfully Legacy Gun works is carrying the torch.

It might better if we call that one 32-20 CPA. Here's the way CPA lists the calibers:
.32-20 WCF
.32-20 CPA (similar to .32-20 WCF but with a .320" diameter barrel)
And strictly speaking it should be: 32-20 CPA (similar to .32-20 WCF but with a .320" groove diameter barrel) as a .320" diameter barrel would be an ultra ultra lightweight barrel. I know "picky picky" but I used to have to review Government contracts.
