I have trouble picking up a skinny old sort of dull post sight against the ram. Yup it’s white but everything around it is brown and it’s just hard to pick it out. Anyone ever color (paint) the post?

I have, mostly on hunting rifles used in low light conditions. Formal target range, daytime, aligned right angle to the suns path, black front generally the best. Some ranges will throw you, backstop east sun rising in your eyes the worst.

Adjusting the rear arpeture as light changes is a key. Open as much as possible closing smaller to sharp front focus while maintaining adequate light on the target. Matches  I adjust the rear every relay, sometimes every shot. Silhouette targets, no defined point of aim it's essential
