I just acquired the above. #1 barrel. Great condition. But it’s a rim fire. Any suggestions on a new caliber? 1895 production.

Convert the breechblock or purchase a new one then convert to 32 S&W Long. I did that to a #2 Ballard and it’s huge fun.
Barring that, there’s always 32/20. I converted a lowwall BB from RF to CF, installed a liner, then chambered it to 32/20. I shoot that rifle more than all the rest combined, but that includes a silhouette match every month at a minimum of 40 rounds.

I agree on the 32 S&W long. I had two 32 rimfires converted to this and I love them. Cheap to load with components readily available, at least four different bullet weights to choose from and outstanding accuracy. Other than competition I shoot these more than my 22s. Hanging golf balls at fifty yards anyone?
