SCOPE PROTECTION

Well, My 61st deer season is under my belt but I always seem to learn something new. These old eyes rely on a scope now and being something of a purist I like to hunt with the vintage glass on my rifles. A problem has always been getting snow on the lenses, usually at the worst time. I've tried many lens covers over the years but most of them have been impractical. This year I realized that the elastic waistband off of an old pair of BVDs or similar works like a champ. It's wide enough to cover both lenses, fits snugly, and comes off in an instant. If your waist size is less than what will fit your scope [I wish] just buy a pair for the more portly gentleman. They really work. As they say, Necesity is the mother of strange bedfellows.

Never seen a waistband scope cover before, but I have seen a section tire innertube used in a similar fashion.

Only problem these days, would be finding an innertube...
