I’m kind of leaning towards a smaller cartridge. There are a couple modern ones like the 6.5 TCU. There’s another based on the 5.6x50r. Even a 32-20 case or 256 magnum has a certain appeal

One that looked interesting is a 6.5x43R that would be a 32 ideal necked down to 6.5. That one actually sounds fun, certainly be the only kid on the block shooting that.

Any of those smaller cartridges should easily get a 120-130 grain bullet to 1600 fps. Maybe a 140.

The video is from RGS Restorations. He is shooting a Schuetzen rifle that he chambered in 6.5 using the 357 case. For the lower end velocities you are seeking that might be a great option. This guy is getting very good results from this one.
