The new Ballard is working out nicely despite the 14 inch twist. Iron sights, 50 feet, standing.

Wished I could take credit, GT. I'm thinking whoever put the rifle together worked it out so the fast twist creates a gyroscopic stabilizer effect. The ammo is 1240 FPS. The auction didn't mention where or who the rifle came from. Must have been a dang genius.

That second target is a good one too.
   
I shot that ugly Ballard of mine the other night at a Mann target or two, I think it took three targets to get one worth a picture.  It has a RKS 1:12 LH GT on it... doesn't shoot for beans off the bench at 50' but quite well at 100y and beyond.  So this offhand target was all about wobbles and jerks.

That's an excellent target Greg. I see you took five shots. I have been doing three as I thought that was the regular standard accepted amount. 
Here's one I shot three weeks ago before we took our holiday break. Not absoluteley sure I have it scored right. I scored it as 57. 58?

Shooting these as warm up targets before the silhouette match starts. One Mann target and a silhouette practice target. You gotta get warmed up.

I researched this once, what the normal was for number of shots, can't remember, lately, we thought a 100 pts sounded good.  I'm sure if someone reading these sees them they'll correct us.  We go with leaded edge breaking the arc for score.  So in our group that last target would be a 57. 
 
Did you ever get any 100yd Mann targets? We enlarged our file drawing and took it to the local print shop to see what they'd charge to run a 100 of them on heavy paper, I didn't want to buy the print shop itself... been meaning to buy a 11x17 printer just for these haven't got a round tuit yet.

Is there a public domain Mann target drawing available? We are get Schuetzen going here in Minnesota (50yds) and the Mann is great fun.

I purchased a package of 200 yd Mann Targets a few years ago and from that we drew them up in Solidworks.  From there we scaled them down for 50' and 100 yards.  I'll wade through our files and see what I can find, we no longer use Solidworks and I don't recall any of the particulars.  I have a PDF of the 50' target that prints on a 8-1/2 x 11 page with no problem I'll share.  It's a 3MB drawing and doesn't scale down very well, a PM is on it's way.

While I don't know if there is a public domain version of a Mann target available online, I have a vector based drawing I did of a typical Mann target. It can be scaled to whatever size needed without affecting image resolution. I'm willing to share that file if someone wants to print their own targets. Contact me via PM.
Back in the day, the only thing really standard about the Mann was the 1/2 inch width of the vertical stripes. Typically they were 20-24 inches tall. My research revealed the number of shots varied between 3, 4, & 5 depending on the club and event.
There is some good info about the Mann target in my book The Golden Age of the American Schuetzenfest. Look up Mann Target and Mann Scheib in the index for specific pages.

I will check with MES (Marty) to see if he has an original from the old days at the Black Wolf Schuetzenverin that I remember using. The silhouette part was black with white lines and no heart in the middle if memory serves. They also had vintage Turkey, Crow, and other targets.
