Extra-curricular reading

I've been on a tear recently acquiring full year's of pre-war American Rifleman magazines. Latest set is from 1940, and in them are a series of analyses of different single shot rifles, one per issue, and most of the issues has one in it. Pretty well written, the guy goes deeper than just the history and talks a lot about technical features.

The author is a guy named J.V.K.Wagar. Ring a bell with anybody? I never heard of him. Could be a nom de plume, maybe?

I actually met the man in the late sixties or early 70s at his home in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was a teacher at Colorado State University. He collected and wrote about single shot rifles in the American Rifleman you refer to. John Dutcher had met the gentleman sometime earlier, and asked if I would like to meet him. He was most cordial, and invited us into his home. We talked single shot rifles for a considerable time. He was very knowledgeable and still owned a number of very fine rifles, some of which he had hunted with and had purchased new. Men like him are unfortunately  few and far between. Soon after, I made copies of his writings and gave them to like minded friends, as I had The Rifleman going back to the first in 1923. A very good memory thanks to a very good friend.

That is his full name. Two middle names not uncommon in Germanic language and culture. Learned the hard way as I have two middle names, Robert Albert followed by Junior. I finally had a small stamp made to simplify matters.

Is it possible to copy some of the articles and make them available on line?

I came a across a  few decades worth of American Rifleman that were feeding fungi, mice and cockroaches. I went through them found anything that interested me and scanned the pages into pdfs. The articles by J.V.K.Wagar  are my favorite.  I keep a folder of the articles in my Ipad so I can read them when I travel.

I'm not sure if we can post them online. I think that the Association has reached out to  NRA a number of times about reprints and  received no response.  It would be nice to share them with the next generation.

I "think" they should be in the public domain by now.
I agree it would be wonderful if they were assembled into a downloadable file to enjoy.  I would also appreciate the same thing on Frank De Haas, Henry Beverage and others.
