Would you be meaning a #5 instead?

Unless I am mistaken, the 7 is a bolt action.

No they are the rolling block similar to the #2 only a severe pistol grip.

Which, in turn, had been made from the leftover frames from the army cadet rifles.

I'm tempted by one of these kits, but I have enough projects already!

According to John Gyde's wonderful book on Remington .22 Rifles he states the No. 7 were built from leftover Model 1871 Army pistol frames. The Cadet rifles were later than the 1871 pistols, so not sure the Cadet rifles were used to make the No. 7? I think the Cadet rifles were made from those same leftover 1871 frames also.

Top is an original #7.
Bottom is one I built from castings.  Probably the same sets as what Jeff is selling.
Bottom rifle looks larger but it not, it’s just the picture.
