Here is a Ballard with supposed rosewood stocks. Has turned very dark. Looks like ebony to me. Bob said it is Bolivian rosewood. Bob Vails father brought it over the border from Mexico in 1957. I still have a blank. Very heavy. 

Freshly carved it was a red color with dark stripes. A year later it was almost black. Never found a finish that would dry on it.
