My newest acquisition.  Winchester 1885 takedown in 25-35.
I also bought a Winchester High Wall takedown ring. This was made by F.W. Zika. It came with a Lyman #2 sight and is also shown with a Stevens 368 scope with Winchester A5 mounts.
I do plan on doing some refinishing to match the the forend and buttstock colors.

Jack if that rifle was originally a 25-35 it's probably pretty rare.  Is the serial number in the range where there are still factory records?  According to Bert H there were only 64 made in the period where there were factory records.  I imagine that cartridge was probably more popular in the later days though.

Pretty cool find, especially as a takedown.  I thought I had an original early one, but it turns out that it was originally a 38-55 Smiley

According to the chart at the Cody museum site there should be record of it.  I paid the $88 to order it but it will be late December before I could get it assuming it exists.  Here is the range that they have records for.  Mine is 108xxx.
IF (big if) it is original it may be the only 25-35 takedown made.  If so I could retire.  Oh wait, I am retired.

You could re-retire Jack, buy a big yacht and live aboard at Sequim WA. That John Wayne Marina is a nice one.

I am thinking Roche Harbor.  That is where my bride and I spent our honeymoon.
