Any love for trapdoor springfields ?. I have a fetish for model 1868 and model 1870 50-70 caliber trapdoors. Have three of them. Have two 50-70 Rolling blocks. A 50-70 sharps carbine conversion.

They are so incredibly fun to reload and shoot for. I use Trail  Boss exclusively for fuel on the 50 and 45 cal traps.

Great video !.  I hate what black powder does to the brass , so I use trailboss - alot less recoil and man can they hit fairly accurately too !.

I don't mind black powder. It just takes a few minutes to clean the cases. The rifles clean up easy too. I also shoot the little brothers; a Remington split breech carbine in .56-60 rimfire and a Remington m1867 navy carbine in .50-45. Also, a NYS rolling block in .50-70.

I recently picked up a rolling block carbine with navy barrel . Someone rechambered it way back for 50-70. And it's a hoot to shoot and accurate. I sold my navy barreled 50-45 after I got this one so I did not have to cut down brass anymore !.

Uh YES!! I have an entire wall in my living room dedicated to trapdoor rifles. I have two 1888s ( a shooter and collector grade with all the tools in the trap),  an 1884, an 1873, and an 1870. Ive owned several 1866 models but sold them off to look for the "perfect" one. Out of all my black powder service rifles from around the world, the trapdoors were the easiest to workup a load and regulate the sights.  Shoot me an email sometime to chat about loads  rifles etc.

I've got several trapdoors, one super nice one with great colors and a mint bore but with a long scratch on the stock. Another with a sleeved chamber because it was demilled by gouging the chamber with a cutting torch. This one is a great shooter and I have beaten several national records with it but not in a registered match so the scores don't count. I've got a '68 and a custom sporter model with a more modern stock.
