Hi Dave,
Like others have said. I guess it depends on what is on your stock now.
I use a product called "Feed-N-Wax" Wood Polish and Conditioner made by Howard Products Inc., Paso Robles, Komiefornia. 93446
It is a combination of Beeswax, Carnauba wax and Orange Oil.
They have a whole line of wood care products on their web site.
As to how often, I keep a small 2 oz. bottle of it on the shelf in my safe along with a dedicated tack cloth, Just about every time I put a gun back in the safe I give it wipe down... Wood and metal so that no finger print oils remain.
Good Stuff and smells great... Only downside is my better half knows where I've been.

How much and how often do you folks put oil your stocks for preservation? I'm not looking to 'refinish' any of my original stocks but just to keep them clean and in good shape. Also what do you use (old English lemon oil, raw linseed oil, bolden oil, etc..)?
Thanks
-Dave
