How much to oil an old stock?

How much and how often do you folks put oil your stocks for preservation? I'm not looking to 'refinish' any of my original stocks but just to keep them clean and in good shape. Also what do you use (old English lemon oil, raw linseed oil, bolden oil, etc..)?

Thanks

Depends on what the current finish is.

For old military rifles (the kind with real wood on them) I have a mixture of beeswax, parafin, and linseed oil.  Old oil finishes True Oil will usually work and can be removed if not.  SC Johnson Paste Wax,  Old English Wood Furniture Lemon Oil Protecting Polish, etc.

In short, I don't think there is a one size fits all solution.
