I hope this is kosher. With a seemingly very good bore what might this sell foe?

Not sure what you are referring to but these are kosher.

if it is an original piece, it'd surely be mighty scarce in that configuration, so condition will enter in. as always. how about a picture or two?
and, I'd like a big, fat dill pickle like we used to get at the butcher shop.

I thought I was the only person on the planet with a 40-60 highwall. Mine is heavy enough with a 30", #3 weight tube. A #5 would certainly give you a workout.
40-60 Win has about the same ballistics as a 41 magnum, so there isn't a lot of recoil with a 10# rifle.

No, I also own Hi-Wall 40-60 made in 1890 (according to Cody Records) with 30 inch number 3 barrel. Found RCBS reloading dies on eBay and 40 rounds of brass on Gun Broker. Just started working up loads so the fun has already stated.

I traded one to Ron Smith for a new RKS .45-70 gain twist barrel.

He had a lettered 1885 HighWall originally chambered to .40-60 and wanted an original barrel to restore it to.

According to Bert H.'s survey they made 1512 rifles in that cartridge so not super common.
