I bought a killer Ballard Pacific in 38-55 and an orphan lowwall. The lowwall is a barrel and action with no lower tang or wood and was priced accordingly. 20 minutes later I saw the Pacific and didn’t need any time to make up my mind as it’s really nice and came at a surpringly low price. I tried and failed to post pictures. Another member has offered to put them up for me. Gotta love that offer!

Overall prices seemed very high. I bought 2 parts rolling blocks with problems for okay prices,  and a forged ballard project that surprisingly had near excellent 40 cal bore. Outside was well rusted.  My sales were low volume but we did okay. Fun experience,  that's worth something

I had thought about giving someone a "commission" as it were to find me one and if it was in my price range to purchase it for me. I am still looking for a field grade regular old model nothing fancy. Maybe someone here will take pity on me and sell me one. I found two on gun broker that till the last few moments were in my price range then BOOM went crazy. I will continue my quest till I get one. Glad y'all had fun.

I have guys often ask me to look for a particular single shot rifle. But the issue is when I'm at a big gun show I've got money to buy myself a gun and not money to buy one for someone else. So without their money in my pocket also, how does one buy them that special rifle they wanted? And if I bought one with their money and I loved it, maybe they were hoping for something different in that model than what gets me excited?
Best I've been able to do was give the seller a friend's name and phone number, and tell the seller to call that person and they'd probably buy it. That worked great last time, but only because I knew the seller, and knew my friend wanted the rifle badly and would come through and buy it. Both parties were very happy. Otherwise this rarely works out well.

I understand it would be easy to be left hanging. Maybe your way is the way to go. If I give someone my word to buy then I buy regardless. There is one out there with my name on it. Just got to find it...

I have had that happen once. I had the money and bought what a friend wanted. Even called him from the show and described it, but when I got home he looked it over and said it wasn't quite what he wanted. I did end up selling it and got my money back, but tied up funds for awhile until I did. Never did that again.

For anyone who hasn’t been to the Tulsa show, here is an old picture but it shows the lower 1/3 of the show.  It’s really amazing to see how large it really is.

Vall,
I had been thinking of sending you some cash to put toward a Winchester single shot at the one day OSC shows but now  that your alter ego Highwallman is shadowing you, I figure you would just keep any nice ones you find.  Smiley

If this Bremer-Pope .22 keeps giving me fits I might box it up and send it to you! My lack of High Wall knowledge has turned into a hate of High Walls. Well at least coil spring High Walls! But I am getting closer to winning this battle!

Just seeing that picture makes me all giddy about the show! We're planning a trip to Oklahoma next year, and I'm trying to convince my wife it needs to be around time frames of the shows! She wants summer, and I don't think they do a summer Tulsa show?

I stopped by your table but didn't introduce myself. I'll try to in the spring.
