Does anybody know what U4 means on the increasing power eyepiece 3/4" tube?

Possibly means “What You For?”   
I bought what was supposed to be one that is unmarked.  It won’t even thread all the way on and on my 14x did nothing.  It did scree on to a Fecker but no increase.  I just got a Litschert. I might see if it even fits.

Jack, do you know if they came in different powers or percentage of increase or were they all the same? Were they ever marked differently between them?

Sadly I have no knowledge of these items.  I probably would have saved myself some money on my eBay purchase if I did Smiley  There used to be a Unertl discussion forum on Yahoo groups before Yahoo dropped their groups feature. I think I read somewhere that the old content was going to be preserved.

Bob,

I had the same question several years back and from what I was told is the Unertl scope that a scope labeled "U4" means it can magnify objects up to 4 times their original size depending on what the model the scope is. Also I think those U numbers went up to 5 or 6 and they represent a 30% increase.
It's been a while since I wanted to find this out so I don't know if the memory is correct.
