Based on one of the comments above about thinking the bullet my not be optimally aligned with the bore axis when the action is closed, I used a set of neck bushing dies for my 38-50 from CH4D as the last step in loading. Doing so did a good job of removing the bullet 'run out' (a big deal in the land of high power benchrest) and aligning to the bore axis.

That said, my 0.366x0.375 Bartlein barrel liked the 365gr BACo Creedmoor bullet better than their 360gr Money bullet - Jim cut both molds to my spec's for my tight barrel dimensions. They cast at 359gr & 356gr in 16-1 for me.

Glenn I had no idea that CH4D mde neck bushing dies that I could use with my 38-50.   I'll have a look into that.  Currently my dies size the brass down more than I'd like, and the expander definitely adds a ton of runout.  As a result the only way I've been able to get it to shoot half decently is with slip fit bullets.  Nothing wrong with slip fir of course, but the dimensions of my original money bullet aren't ideal for that.  The new one I have will work better as far as alignment goes.   The tough part is that I have no idea how long it'll be before I can get to the range again.  Cry

I'm not sure that CH4D still makes the 38cal and larger bushes for their neck sizing dies. I've forgotten the name of the outfit in GA who makes them (I've heard - not 1st hand experience), but think it is the outfit that will also take your 22LR barreled action and shoot Lapua ammo for you to find what lot it prefers.

If you find the die I have a bunch of 40cal & 38cal bushes I no longer have use for. I found that, depending on the brass used (WW, etc.) the bush size needed can vary by as much as 0.002".
